STATEMENT OF FAITH

of Foothills Fellowship Church

The Bible: We believe in the complete inspiration and inerrancy of the sixty-six books of the Bible. It is our final authority on all matters it addresses. – 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21

God: We believe in one God, the Creator and Ruler of all things, who is perfect in holiness and love, infinite in wisdom and power, and who is eternally Father, Son and Holy Spirit. – Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Chronicles 29:11-12; Nehemiah 9:6; Matthew 28:19

Jesus Christ: We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal and only begotten Son of God, who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, who is truly God and truly man, the only Mediator between God and man. – Matthew 1:20; John 1:12. John 14:6; John 14:9; 1 Timothy 2:5

Holy Spirit: We believe in the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, who regenerates, seals, indwells, guides, teaches, and sanctifies every true believer, baptizing him into the body of Christ and equipping him with gifts for ministry. – John 3:3-7; John 14:16; John 16:8-11; Acts 5:3-4; Romans 8:14-16; Romans 8: 26-27; Ephesians 1:13

Mankind: We believe that men and women were created in God’s image, that they sinned and therefore incurred physical and spiritual death; that people are sinners by nature and by choice; that they are both material and immaterial in nature; and that they will exist forever either in God’s presence or apart from him. – Genesis 1:26; Genesis 2:7; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23

Angels: We believe that angels are created, spiritual beings. Good angels worship and serve God as His messengers and they minister to His people. Evil angels, led by Satan, sinned through pride and were expelled from Heaven. Also, called demons, they oppose God and His people, and they influence unbelievers. – Job 1:12 Job 2:6; Matthew 12:22-28; Matthew 25:41; 2 Corinthians 4:4; Ephesians 6:11-12; Hebrews 1:6-7, Hebrews 1:14; Jude 1:6

Atonement: We believe that Christ died for our sins as a substitutionary sacrifice, that He rose again according to the Scriptures, and that God’s wrath is turned away from all who trust in Him as Savior and Lord – Romans 5:8-9; 1 Peter 2:24; 1 Peter 3:18; 1 John 2:2

Salvation: We believe that salvation is by grace, through faith, and that all who receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are born again of the Holy Spirit, thereby becoming children of God. We believe in the eternal security of the believer; that is, the perseverance of all true children of God. – John 1:12; John 3:3; John 3:7; John 3:16; John 10:27-29; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Ephesians 3:8-9

Christ’s Return: We believe in the personal, visible, imminent, pre-millennial return of our Lord Jesus Christ. – Acts 1:9-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17; 1 John 3:2; Revelation 19:11-21; Revelation 20:1-6

Eternal State: We believe in the resurrection and everlasting conscious blessedness of the saved and in the resurrection and everlasting conscious punishment of the lost. – Luke 16:19-31; 1 Corinthians 15:20-23; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17; Revelation 20:1-15

Church: We believe that the church, the body of Christ, is expressed institutionally through local congregations of baptized believers, equal in rank and privilege, subject to the Word of God, observing the ordinances, under the leadership of elders and deacons/deaconesses, and independent of ecclesiastical or political control. Acts 2:38-47; 1 Corinthians 1:2; Philippians 1:1

Ordinances: We believe that every Christian is to be baptized by immersion in water in obedience to our Lord’s command and as a picture of His death, burial , and resurrection to new life in Christ. We believe that the Lord’s Supper is to be regularly observed by memorial picture of Christ’s sacrificial death, until He returns. – Luke 22:19-20; Matthew 28:19-20; John 3:23; Acts 8:38-39; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 11:23-31
